Our Previous Assignments
As serious volunteers, we have previously carried out a number of assignments and project management activities which include the followings:
- Tumbatu Co-Octopus Fisheries Management – supported financial and technical by Mwambao Coastal Community Network Tanzania (2018 to date – ongoing)
- Advocating and capacity building to social and community groups about entrepreneurship, agri-business and fisheries. (2020 ongoing) in collaboration with Amana Bank Zanzibar
- Facilitates micro financing services to micro and small enterprise in North “A” District (2020 ongoing). In collaboration with Amana Bank Zanzibar
- Advocating for Local Government Authority to prepare conducive/enabling environment for youth to participate in agri and small business to improve their lives (March, 2020). Funded by The Foundation for Civil Society Tanzania
- Assisting Jongowe village in developing the Village Strategic Plan (ongoing). (Volunteerism)
- Peace Building and Political Resilience’s – Electoral and Voter Education campaign for marginalized community in North “A” District (2014/15). Funded by the Foundation for Civil Society Tanzania
- Fund-raising and Resources mobilization for construction of the Jongowe Village Community Hall Building (2013/14) (Volunteerism)
- Implement fisheries policy and by-laws dialogue in North Region Zanzibar (2013). A one year community based project funded by the Foundation for Civil Society Tanzania.
- Implement JDF Capacity Building program (Management and Leadership Skills for Jongowe Development Foundation (JDF) Management Committee) (2011). Funded by the Foundation for Civil Society Tanzania
- Assisting in developing Jongowe Village Education Strategic Plan (2010) (Volunteerism)
- Provision of expert advice to Jongowe Village in the coordination and management of all social and economic activities in the village (administratively, Financially, Environmentally and Economically). (Volunteerism)
- Participatory Assessment of Flora and Fauna in Tumbatu Jongowe Village, for Jongowe Environmental Management Association (JEMA), Tumbatu, Zanzibar (prior to official registration, 2006). (Incorporate with JEMA).
- Conduct short courses in Project Planning and Management in collaboration with the Zanzibar Institute of Tourism Development (2006). (Special training for Tumbatu Youth)
- Conduct capacity building training to fisheries committee from North Unguja in collaboration with TUMCA in order to create strong community Management Group (CMG).
- Currently, JDF is jointly implementing a co-management project with TUMCA aimed at strenghening the capacity of all Shehia Fishers Committees and Community Management Groups.
