The aim was to discuss on proper ways of establishing strong partnership in implanting marine conservation programs
On Sunday, November 24, 2024, the JDF coordinated and sensitized the local fishing community and other stakeholders for a beach cleaning event at Jongowe Shehia on Tumbatu Island. The event, officiated by the Tumbatu Marine Conservation Area (TUMCA) Manager, involved a wide range of stakeholders from both the public and private sectors. Marine conservation groups from Jongowe village were particularly engaged and fully participated in the cleanup. These groups included the Jongowe Shehia Fisheries Committee, JDF Team, Women Eco-Credit Groups, Seaweed Farming Groups, Cooperative Groups, Jongowe Physical Exercises Group (JOPEG), Department of Fisheries, as well as local government and traditional leadership.
